A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
